Of course they are not shared. Cos Retroviruses infect certain groups of organims only but this is adequate enough as we look from an evolutionary branch upwards, not downwards like looking at mammals like mice and humans. If you wanna see something all groups of organisms share, just look at the genetic code. Why does AUG mean start in all organisms? Why wont your creator make it such that AUG$ means leucine in birds, phenylalanine in reptiles and serine in mammals?
